What is SEO

Have you ever asked what is SEO?  Well I’m sure you’re not alone. I’m also sure there is not just one answer but below I’ve tried to answer the question for you

Search engine optimization – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a web search engine’s unpaid results — often referred to …

New Client – New York Local Mover

The logo image for my new client new york local moversWell, another company NewYorkLocalMovers

has trusted MarketConnection.biz to get their site some higher rankings in hopes of generating some new customers. In these blog posts we will post what we are doing to get the results this client is looking for. This is a first client that we will do this with, it’s generally not done because we want to keep our clients privacy. I always wondered why seo companies did this because the only reason it would have any negative impact would be for some kind of retaliation. I don’t think I have to worry about that so I’m going to expose the so called secrets of seo and show you how I’m going it.  This will hopefully help with elimination of the credibility issue for new customers.  In tomorrow’s blog post, actually  in the next post I’ll show the setup and some of the problems I have with some customers.

Visual Guide to Local SEO

Many people have asked me about how to get their website optimized for Google and the other search engines. SEO is much more then just getting some links to your site, in fact the most important part of the SEO game is getting the on page optimization right. You want to get it right for both the search engines and for your customers at the same time. There is no reason for me to recreate an image explaining on page optimization for you when it’s already been done.

Building a winning local website is no simple task. We need content about our business, a blog, location pages, photos and galleries, contact pages and more! All this can quickly overwhelm budgets and plans. So in order to help, we’ve built an info-graphic which attempts to help small business owners, consultants, web designers and local marketers get a better plan.

Health and Digital Marketing You Need Both

Don’t ever stop learning….

That’s what I always say but I did stop learning. I stopped learning how to eat healthy and how to exercise. Because of that I gained way too much weight. I feel like crap and I know that I must get up and do something but I always get stuck working on the computer for most of the day. Well today that’s going to change, I’m going to get up and do something. Right after I finish checking my rankings and once I find a new expired domain oh and…..

I read this today and thought I would pass it on just in case you’re in the same boat. If you do seo and online marketing I’m sure you can use a few minutes of exercise too.

Dear friend, one of my philosophies in life is to give myself the best opportunity to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Am I still going to die? Yes!However, it makes a lot of sense to me that while I can, I must give myself the best opportunity to optimize my health which could lead me to saving money in the long run.

Over the years many people asked me how I managed to remain looking so youthful and maintain a slender body. I therefore decided to share my secrets in my ebook 8 Simple Ways to Live a Healthy Abundant Lifestyle with you since I do believe you can also benefit from what I have learnt and implemented as a health program. Today, I am going to share with you two of those insights from that book found on my website.

Often during times of stress, you may unconsciously hold your breath. Yet as you know, breath is essential to oxygenating your mind, body, spirit, and life. Write a note to yourself to breathe, as a reminder of the importance of invigorating yourself with deep and steady breaths. Make trips to places where fresh air is plentiful. You’ll also notice an increase in air quality when you’re near water, such as the beach. Even taking a shower or bath puts you in touch with the positive ions associated with water and air. So, remember to breathe deeply and completely.

Walking, reaping the rewards of exercise doesn’t require strenuous workouts or even trips to the gym. It’s about adding more movement and activity to your life, even in small ways.Sustained walking sessions for a minimum period of thirty to sixty minutes a day, five days a week, with the correct walking posture, reduces health risks and has various overall health benefits, such as reducing the chances of heart disease and anxiety and depression.Life expectancy is also increased even for individuals suffering from obesity or high blood pressure. Walking also increases bone health, especially strengthening the hip bone, lowering the more harmful low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and raising the more useful good high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. Many people walk as a hobby, and in the post-industrial age it is often enjoyed as one of the best forms of exercise.

So fellow internet marketers, get out there and walk to day so you can keep writing those ads.

Linking To Another Site Can Hurt

Most people know that links are what helps your site rank higher

in the search engines. It used to be a simple process, get as many links as you can from anywhere. All you had to worry about was getting more links to your site than your competition had.  You could set us software to do it automatically for you, simply insert some spun article set the anchor text and let it go. Well those days ended with Google penalizing sites with links from non relevant or low authority sites. Those sites everyone used to get a link from. You never had to really worry about the links going out from your site. Until now, that is.

The reason Google penalizes you site for some inbound links is because it’s against their rules to use links to manipulate the search results. So now they’re going after you for linking out to sites that are not relevant. That means if you link to a site just they will give you a link in return, that’ against the rules and they’ll penalize you for it.

Here is the whole story and explanation for Google’s Matt Cutts.

If you see this message on the Manual Actions page, it means that Google has detected a pattern of unnatural artificial, deceptive, or manipulative outbound links. Buying links or participating in link schemes in order to manipulate PageRank is a violation of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.

As a result, Google has applied a manual spam action to the affected portions of your site. Actions that affect your whole site are listed under Site-wide matches. Actions that affect only part of your site and/or some incoming links to your site are listed under Partial matches.

SEO Myths Debunked Though Experimentation

In the world of SEO there are a multitude of differing opinions out there on the world wide internet.

A large percentage of those opinions are from people simply talking about things they heard or read from someone else. Unless you belong to a couple of master mind groups you won’t get the information needed to create an informed opinion. What’s needed in SEO to know what works and what doesn’t is testing.  Without testing you won’t know what’s working and what’s not. Those people testing are not going to reveal any of the secrets learned without getting something in return.

I belong to a few of those groups and we pass around information from member to member. This is normally done on closed Facebook groups or forums and they can range in price from 40 dollars per month to 247 per month and when you get to the big leagues, as much as 5000 dollars per month.

Anyway what I wanted to tell you about is this article I saw on one the groups I’m a member of. Over the past few years there have been many changes to SEO if you listen to the mainstream gurus. I laugh a little each time I see that word, it just doesn’t fit for many who are described as one. Anyway, the techniques for getting a page ranked over the years have changed drastically in some cases and most of the changes have come from these so called gurus.

As it turns out, many of the changes should not have been changes because they are still working. The only way to know this is to test.  Cheack out this article about testing that was done here

I think you’ll agree with me when I say:

There are MORE misconceptions surrounding SEO

…than almost any other aspect of digital marketing.

And, it’s hardly surprising when you consider there are more than 200 ranking factors, but almost all are shrouded in secret.

Since Google do not (and are never likely to) share the inner workings of their algorithm, how do you know what really works?

How do you decipher the SEO myths from the matter and the hear say from the fact?

You turn to science, that’s what!Read More
